International Men’s Day

An opportunity to talk about gender partnership

Achieving gender balance across Schlumberger has been a focus for the company for more than 25 years. Schlumberger believes that gender balance is enabled through fostering gender partnership and building an inclusive culture where everyone is listened to and valued for who they are.

To commemorate International Men’s Day, the Schlumberger women’s network, Connect Women, and its Men for Change members organized a series of global events in which employees heard from senior leaders and colleagues on their personal experiences as parents, as individuals, as employees, and as managers. Employees were encouraged to reflect on challenging subjects that are not often discussed and greatly affect male colleagues, fathers, sons, brothers, friends, and partners—stereotypes around masculinity—in addition to recognizing the men who help move our Diversity and Inclusion goals forward.

“Our Men for Change group is a network of male allies from all levels of the organization that seeks to engage men to become advocates for an inclusive workplace for women,” says Leila Hamza, director of Diversity and Inclusion at Schlumberger. “The group enables vital conversations on bias, gender equity, and issues facing employees of all genders. Our goal is to enable an inclusive work environment that supports our journey toward a salaried workforce comprising 25% women by 2025 and 30% by 2030.”
