Schlumberger has a long-standing expertise in research and manufacturing. The company has a global network of world-class facilities that design, develop, and build innovative industry technologies in collaboration with local suppliers.
An example of this is a new state-of-the art Schlumberger manufacturing facility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) that will create more than 200 new jobs over the next few years. It will also help to further develop a highly skilled manufacturing and supply chain workforce within the region.
This facility is the first manufacturing to open in the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) and as such supports the country’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) program to promote economic growth.
“The establishment of this new manufacturing center is a critical step to enable an agile capability linking research, product development, and manufacturing to the needs of the Saudi Arabian market,” notes Schlumberger Chief Executive Officer Olivier Le Peuch, “it’s a truly world-class, fit-for-basin, responsive set of outstanding capabilities. It also offers career opportunities for a highly skilled local workforce.”
A diverse and capable talent base drives innovation. Schlumberger has a robust learning and development program for its new employees and has increased the number of training courses offered locally.
The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding to support female students in the Leading National Academy, the first vocational training academy for women which is committed to empowering women to play an active role in the local KSA workforce.
During the 2020 In-Kingdom Total Value Add Program (IKTVA) awards, Rawan Alabdulhadi, the first Saudi Arabian female well services reliability and maintenance engineer at Schlumberger, was highlighted as a role model. “It is an honor to be this year’s inspirational story,” she says. “Through the IKTVA program combined with Schlumberger's highly recognized training program and support for employees, I along with many others are realizing our professional potential.”
