Solar Impulse Foundation Scientific Expert of the Month

Schlumberger principal research scientist recognized by the Solar Impulse Foundation for contributions to assess sustainable technology

At Schlumberger, we are committed to being at the forefront of our industry’s shift toward more sustainable energy production.

As part of our commitment, Schlumberger is an active partner of the Solar Impulse Foundation’s World Alliance for Efficient Solutions.

In April this year, the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions reached the important milestone of identifying 1,000 technology solutions that protect the environment while maintaining economic growth. When a solution’s technological feasibility, profitability, and environmental or socioeconomic benefit is validated by volunteer subject matter experts from various disciplines, it receives an “Efficient Solutions Label”.

One of those subject matter experts is Dr. Sharath Chandra Mahavadi, Principal Research Scientist at Schlumberger. In April 2021, the Solar Impulse Foundation recognized his contributions with an Expert of the Month award.

An Efficient Solutions Label Expert since 2018, in the past year alone Dr. Mahavadi has provided his expert insights to review and label 12 clean and profitable solutions. He holds a PhD and Master’s in Chemistry and a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Microbiology and Genetics. The primary area of his research is interfacial and colloidal chemistry. His work revolves around understanding fluids better to predict their behavior during the different phases of production.

There are 16 Schlumberger scientists who have collectively contributed more than 800 hours to assess sustainable solutions for the Solar Impulse Foundation since the start of the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions program in 2018. As well as research into renewable energy, the experts have assessed innovations related to clean water and sanitation, industry, infrastructure, and responsible consumption.
