Meet Aishwarya, Software Engineer

Aishwarya started with Schlumberger as an Industrial Internet of Things Software Engineer a few years ago, and has gone on to become a Software Engineer, currently working in Field Development Planning.

Primarily operating at the backend development of software, she works behind the scenes and is involved in everything the user doesn’t see when performing an activity on a website.

As Aishwarya describes in this video interview, she thrives in her position as a Software Engineer and draws a parallel between her work and her passion for sketching and painting, which she enjoys in her free time. ‘’Often times when I’m walking around and things are picturesque, it just feels really good to sit down, relax and sketch,’’ she beams.

Far from being just a coding job, Aishwarya is able to express her creativity through her work and draw from her own imagination to come up with solutions that will enable swift problem-fixing.

“At Schlumberger, I’ve worked with people from diverse backgrounds, countries and levels of expertise. You’re always both learning and contributing, whatever your role in the company may be.’’

Collaboration and teamwork are key to software innovation. “We develop software as a team across software engineering disciplines and work with interdisciplinary experts,” she explains, “from exploring diverse technology stacks to using advanced techniques in machine learning and artificial intelligence—it’s an exciting place to work.”

“As software engineers, we leverage the cloud, high-performance computing and the Industrial Internet of Things,” Aishwarya continues, “our work contributes to creating Schlumberger’s advanced data ecosystems.”

Ever since joining Schlumberger, her learning journey is ongoing. Aishwarya has acquired a wide range of skills and knowledge, including mastering a variety of programming languages and working on several cloud platforms. All of those experiences have contributed to making her an expert in her field.

Almost four years into the company, she’s found her footing within Schlumberger and firmly believes in employee engagement through providing support, enhancing career development, and contributing to personal development in the work environment.

‘’I’ve always felt respected and listened to at Schlumberger,’’ she assures. From mentoring interns to being actively involved in several employee resource groups, she is an agent of change.

For example, she is a member of the internal employee resource group Connect Women, a networking community where employees of all genders meet regularly to exchange ideas, promote gender equality, and support career progression within the company.

She enjoys the diversity and challenging nature of her work. ‘’At Schlumberger, I’ve worked with people from diverse backgrounds, countries and levels of expertise. You’re always both learning and contributing, whatever your role in the company may be,’’ she adds. “From collaborating with giants of the software industry, to working side by side with people from all backgrounds, origins, and walks of life, I believe Schlumberger offers endless possibilities and career paths to choose from.”
