Career Profiles
Kiona began her SLB journey working as a drilling fluids engineer, on rigs across the US and North Africa, before transitioning into the production domain, with many roles in digital operations, management, and business development. Currently, Kiona works as the Digital Business Owner for Midstream Production Systems.
Kiona doesn’t really have a “typical day,” as every day is different which she enjoys a lot. Some days consist of meeting with our digital technology teams and software developers, with other days more focused on meeting with our customers, which often involves traveling. She continues to surprise herself daily in her role as she never imagined being involved in developing a digital business; “It’s not something I would have anticipated when I started my career,” she says.
Joining SLB straight after college was an easy choice for Kiona. Kiona expresses, “I really appreciated the diversity of nationalities within the company and the opportunity to travel and work internationally.” She experienced this diversity first-hand when she worked with nine different teams over the course of a year. Although it’s not a common experience for most people, this experience is one that she truly treasured and is the highlight of her career as not only did it challenge her, but it also broadened her knowledge across SLB’s business in a short amount of time. SLB’s consistent presence at Society of Women Engineers conferences and meeting prospective peers confirmed her decision, “I had confidence that SLB was going to be a good fit.”
At SLB, Kiona is an active member in all the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), as “ERGs are great ways to learn more about others' perspectives and experience while also finding ways to actively support underrepresented groups and identities both within the company and the local communities where we work,” she explains.
Kiona thrives on her willingness to try new things and would recommend to anyone considering a career at SLB to “take advantage of learning as many things as you can wherever you are because the people you will interact with are super knowledgeable about both work and life.”
