Attracted to SLB by a challenging data science position and the expertise of her team, Rupinder revels in the freedom to learn and grow in her career.
Rupinder joined SLB in February 2020 as an intern as she was finishing up a master’s degree of Data Analytics to go with her Software Engineering and Computer Science degrees. What caught her eye? The combination of a challenging position with the technical expertise and professionalism she saw in her interviews.
Now as a full-time Data Scientist, Rupinder’s day starts with checking the company news on the intranet and reviewing her day’s priorities. She talks to her internal clients to understand requirements or take feedback on her latest work, then confers with her colleagues and completes her day’s work. “I go home happy that I solved a real-world problem and helped the company with process improvements.”
Rupinder’s first-year assessment of the company culture? “SLB is about putting people first. The company helps employees, gives flexibility in working hours, and encourages employees to spend time with their family and maintain work life balance.”

Training is another company strength. “In my internship, my supervisor made sure that I learned and practiced new technologies and skills. Whenever I faced any issue, my team made sure that I understood everything.” Rupinder finds that she has the option to choose the latest training that she thinks is suitable for her, and is given the flexibility to complete it.
Rupinder has the same sense of independence in her daily work. “When you are given freedom to manage your own projects, you learn responsibility, the importance of a timeline, communication, and project delivery. All these help in your overall career growth.”
