The Next Generation Chooses SLB – Again!
The energy industry is facing a widening talent gap. For every early-career professional entering the field, there are 2.4 workers nearing retirement, and two out of every three future hires will be needed just to replace those leaving. It's a shift that's reshaping how companies think about talent, and why the way we find, hire, and grow young professionals matters more than ever.
This year, that approach earned SLB its fifth Handshake Early Talent Award in the United States, placing us among a select group of energy employers recognized for how we engage the next generation. It's not just about filling roles, but about building something more lasting: real university partnerships, meaningful campus engagement, and a brand that resonates with students long before they apply.
Handshake evaluates employers across four areas: Brand Resonance, Engagement, Event Participation, and Relationships. Together, they measure how appealing a company is to students, and how well it shows up for them throughout their journey from campus to career.
At SLB, that shows up early. From day one, early-career professionals are trusted with real responsibility. That trust is intentional. It's what lets new hires bring fresh thinking, and curiosity to problems that matter, right from the start.
"Early career hiring is one of the most exciting parts of what we do. Being recognized by Handshake rewards the work we put in, every day, to continuously raise the bar to ensure early career professionals have a meaningful and fulfilling start at SLB."
Behind the award is a deliberate approach: university partnerships, campus events, internship programs, and structured mentorship that create real entry points into SLB: places where students and recent graduates don't just start a job, they start a career.
The next generation of energy professionals is already out there, curious and ready to contribute. Our work is to keep giving them a reason to choose us.
